Alternative fuels in the cement industry
The cement industry is the third largest industrial energy supplier in the world, responsible for 7% of the industrial energy use, and the second industrial CO2 emitter, with approximately 7% of the world C02 emissions. For this reason, this sector has raised the self responsibility to reduce CO2 emissions and improve and optimize its cement plants to help the environment.
The substitution of fossil fuels for alternatives and the reduction of the clinker content in cement are the best solutions when to reduce emissions.
Using alternative fuels in a responsible manner in the manufacture of cement and taking advantage of the co-processing of various waste and materials to recover their energy value is one of the environmental commitments. For this purpose, facilities are necessary in which storage systems, dosing systems, classification systems and convey systems must intervene until the furnace, this means; waste is used as alternative fuels, from its arrival at the cement plant to its entrance to the clinker kiln, subject to the characteristics of the alternative fuel, although, some basic common premises are always maintained.
In Vidmar, our commitment is to implement initiatives that help minimize any environmental impact and therefore we work to develop and supply mobile and fixed installations to different cement plants for the storage and dosing of alternative fuels to clinker manufacturing furnaces.
